Joshua 1:5 – George K. Walker

image_pdfimage_print

Dear Reader,

God is able and willing to do whatever we need, all we have to do is ask Him, He is our Father and we have that right.

“There shall not any man be
able to stand before thee all
the days of thy life: as I was
with Moses, so I will be with
thee: I will not fail thee, nor
forsake thee” Joshua 1:5

When Moses died God told Joshua to not fear and that the same blessings He was giving Moses He will do for Him but all Joshua had to do was to not be afraid and be of good courage and to trust in Him.

If we are His children and keep His word in us then what can stand against us? We serve a God that created the earth and everything in it, He can calm the seas just by speaking it, He can change any of our situations with His word. I read this morning in my daily devotional which took me to Joshua 1:1-9. God will do the same thing for us that He did for Moses and Joshua, all we have to do is believe it, ask Him and walk in it. I pray that you are walking in all the blessings that our Father has for you, plans of good and not evil, plans for you to prosper and to give Him glory for your blessings. Always remember that no matter what you are going through our Father is with you and He is in you cheering you on with words of encouragement and specific instructions on what to do for that situation. Trust, Believe and Obey-Our Father is still on the Throne, in the Mighty name of Jesus-Amen!

Sincerely,

“Give it all to Jesus”

Lift up your head and smile,

in all the gloom of life.

Put aside your worries,

and set aside your strife.

Give it all to Jesus,

and He will set you free.

He will bring peace to your heart,

and give you His jubilee.

The Puzzle that is the Christian Walk – Robert Perron

image_pdfimage_print

THE PUZZLE THAT IS THE CHRISTIAN WALK

by Robert S. Perron

Our walk as a Christian is like a jigsaw puzzle. We start with our corner pieces (or corner stones) which are: trusting in Christ, prayer, reading the Bible daily, and fellowship with other Christians. From there, each thing we do on a daily basis allows us to add pieces to the puzzle (for good positive things), and sometimes lose pieces of the puzzle (when we do fleshly, worldly things). Also, sometimes we finish a puzzle and we become elated, “Spiritually high,” excited, joyful, etc. because of our accomplishments. BUT BE CAREFUL! We did not do these things on our own, so there is no reason to boast about them! The Holy Spirit has led us through this puzzle and He has put the right pieces, in the right places, at the right times to allow us to finish it. Yet, as suddenly as we finished the puzzle, it is taken away and a new one comes along. This time the puzzle has more pieces. (This is our next step in our walk, plus it shows Spiritual maturity). We start to feel a “Spiritual low” when this happens. What we need to remember at these low times is that we still need our corner pieces to start this new puzzle. So remember to always: Trust in Jesus, pray, read your Bible daily, and continue to fellowship with other Christians, and this will get you out of your Spiritually low times. Some people may go through puzzles quickly, as the Holy Spirit leads them. On the other hand, some people may never finish even one puzzle. For them, it’s always 2 steps forward and 3 steps back. They want to hang onto worldly, sinful ways too much, and they continually lose some of their puzzle pieces.

What is Your Foundation? – George K. Walker

What is Your Foundation?

Matthew 7:24-27

This is the question that we all should ask ourselves. The dictionary defines foundation as the support upon which something rests.

Jesus tells us in Matthew 7:24-27 “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And everyone that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon the house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.”

Is your foundation rock or sand?

Don’t Hang Up Your Praise – George K. Walker

Don’t Hang Up Your Praise!

Psalm 34:1 says “I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.”

How many of us actually do this? When the storms come, we give life to them by doubting what our Father can do for us.

In Psalm 137:1-4 David tells us “By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion. We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof. For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying sing us one of the songs of Zion. How shall we sing the Lord’s song in a strange land?”

My question to you is how can we NOT sing the Lord’s song while being held captive in a strange land? We are to hold onto Him in everything we do. Just saying His name brings victory and we are to say it and sing it, in and out of a storm or in a strange land. No matter where we are, or what we are going through, our Father has a seed in us that He is readying us to deliver. Glory to God!

Mother L.O.V.E.

by K. Al Frazier

(Psalm 139:13)

You let it flow so totally free

A most delirious breath of ectasy

Understanding the essence in me

As the peak glory of God’s majesty

Inspiring me to give lavish gifts

To bring brilliant smiles to the face

In support of the universal myths

That mother knows best every place

The maker of me as well as you

A mathematical wisdom by God

With the only love that’s true

After nine months in a glorious pod

Matchless since God is supreme

Opulent has been your presence

Matchless since your love is extreme

Stunning in all violence or silence

The L is for that of Long

Of tremendous and eternal length

Confirming to each we belong

For giving our affection of strength

The O is for that of Outstanding

Which is to mean truly exceptional

Having reason for the grandstanding

An impressive fact, greatly emotional

The V is for that of Value

Meaning tons of gold nuggets of worth

Like traveling God’s divine avenue

Stepping into heaven off planet earth

The E is for that of Everyday

For an exhilarating quality of stock

Falling in tune, with the heroic sway

Of working for Jesus, around the clock

Why I Love the Lord so Much – Delbert Faulkner

Why I Love the Lord So Much

I can remember when my mom & dad would take me & my brothers to Sunday school & church. One Sunday when I was around 7 I began to ask my teacher a lot of “How come?” questions about the stars, sun, moon & us. I guess she figured I was ripe for salvation because during church the pastor walked around until he was in front of me. Before I knew it, I was standing crying & repeating his prayer – asking God to forgive me & inviting Him into my heart. For years thereafter, I thought I was a Christian. I even had arguments about it. But there was no change in my life. I continued to be the same person I had always been. For whatever reason, my confession to God hadn’t been real but He did not give up on me.

For instance, when I was around 9 I went to the beach. I noticed a wooden platform anchored a ways out. I decided to swim to it even though I couldn’t swim that well. The next thing I remember I was laying flat on my back with my sister’s friend leaning over me performing CPR.

Then there was a time I was in Chicago. I had joined a motorcycle club in Detroit but would travel to Chicago to sell drugs. My friend took me to an apartment & introduced me to a young lady living with her son. She had a sugar daddy who was paying her bills. My friend & I stayed at this girl’s place for a few days. He was having sex with her; I was getting high on my drugs. It was during the 3rd day that her sugar daddy came to the apartment. I passed by the restroom & saw my friend holding him up against the wall with a pistol in his mouth! He beat the guy with the pistol then threw him out of the apartment! I didn’t think much about it. Later that day my friend told me that he had things to take care of; he invited me to stay while he was gone. He was gone longer than expected. I really didn’t care because I was getting high & having sex with the girl. But it was during that time that I had a visitor. I was passed out on the couch. The girl had errands to run & told her son to watch over me. Then came a knock on the door. The boy opened the door; the sugar daddy & 2 of his friends came in. He shook me awake & asked, “Where’s your buddy?”

“I don’t know.”

He said, “You’ll do.”

He grabbed me from the couch & knocked me to the floor. That happened several times. As I lay face down on the floor, I felt something hot in my back again & again. It dawned on me that I was being stabbed! I became fully awake. I got to my feet & began fighting for my life! This went on through the apartment to the door leading outside. I got the door opened. I had 1 hand on the doorframe & the other on the handle. I then heard the sugar daddy say, “Come on! Pull him back into the room so I can finish him off!” Super human strength entered my body. As they began to pull me backwards, I pulled all of them forward – they went flying through the air into the outside wall! The neighbors began looking out their doors to learn the reason for the loud noise. They got to their feet & ran away. I got up, shut the door & locked it. As I sat at the kitchen table pondering what to do, I felt my back; my hand was soaked in blood. Just then the front door was kicked in. “Oh no they’re back,” I thought. But it was an off-duty policeman who lived next door & just happened to be home. He saved my life.

Then there was a time in Detroit. My motorcycle club was having a party. I rode up on my Harley Sportster. As usual, I was high. I talked 1 of my club brothers into letting me ride his motorcycle – a chopped down full dresser. I rode it down the highway for a mile or so then turned around to head back. As I entered the median to the clubhouse the drugs tricked my mind into thinking I was arriving on my bike. What a mistake! You see, the gear shift & back brake pedals on these bikes are opposite of each other. When I attempted to stop in the median all I did was down shift into a lower gear. I thought the brakes went out. My mind told me to lay the bike down. When I did – the bike first & then me skidded into oncoming traffic! The bike wasn’t hit but a pickup truck ran me over! The police (who had been watching the whole thing) were the first to get to me. They checked me out & drew a chalk line around my body. But just then, air came back into me! It was another miracle!

Several years later I was convicted of felony murder & sentenced to natural life. One day I happened to see my roommate studying a book. I asked him what he was studying. He said, “A college-level Bible study.” My old Sunday school class came to mind which led me to ask him several questions. When he mentioned the name Jesus I asked him to tell me more about Him. It wasn’t long before I was hearing the Gospel – it was making sense! I gave in to the urging of the Holy Spirit. I confessed for seemingly a long period of time & as I did it was like large boulders falling from my shoulders. When I got up from repenting I felt like the prostitute in Luke 7:36-50 (the one Jesus had forgiven of so many sins).

And now you know why I love the Lord as much as I do!

His Word Shall Stand – George K. Walker

image_pdfimage_print

“There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel the Lord, that shall stand” Proverbs 19:21

Dear Reader,

No matter what we are going through or what WE choose to do, the counsel of the Lord shall stand. I grew up in the Church but I chose the wrong path for my life but even through that God’s Word was still in me, giving me counsel. He gives us all choices to either choose Him or the devil. Our Father is all powerful and can change anything in the blink of an eye all we have to do is call on the name of Jesus and He will answer. This is just a little reminder to us that no matter what we choose HIS WORD WILL STAND!

We have many things going on in our hearts but as long as we are putting His Word in us it will stand. Nothing can stand against it. We win no matter what because it is in His plan for our lives. Once we accepted Him as Lord and Savior we are winners. Just get up again after you fall and He will accept you with open arms, I know this to be true because he did it for me and I know He will do it for you. Thank you for your time and be encouraged to feed on His Word, fill yourself with it and watch how He will change your life.

Jeremiah 9:23&24 – George K. Walker

image_pdfimage_print

“Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches.”

Jeremiah 9:23

While reading my devotional this morning it took me to Jeremiah 9:24 which says: “But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord”.

We can have everything – strength, riches, and wisdom – but if we do not know Jesus personally and understand His word than all of that means nothing in the end. The word clearly states that we can do nothing without Jesus so do not think you have wisdom because of something you did – give God the glory. He deserves all the Honor, Glory, and Praise for what His son Jesus has done for us. Let alone what He is doing for us everyday. Waking us every morning – Glory to you God! Giving us food to eat and shelter – Glory to God! Showing us compassion, mercy and love, even when we do not deserve is – Glory to God in the highest! People might think you are the cause of your blessings but you better correct them by giving glory to God!

“And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth.”

John 8:50

Thanks and Praise – Nicholas Brown

Thanks and Praise

I want to give God all the praise and thanks for who he is and what he has done in my life. I want to really thank God for the Holy Spirit.

I’m learning as a younger soldier that I need it all day, every day. Without it I would be still chasing the wind. Every day he is teaching me more and more. I feel so blessed to even have the chance to know and love our God. I just pray for those that can’t see and are still lost. For we all at one point were looking for that fulfillment, just in all the wrong places. My best year in the streets doesn’t compare to one day of this peace, living in Christ.

So I encourage you all to tell every one that we know who has the key to life…..His name is Jesus
